Fountain of Life is nature’s best source for plant lignans that are converted to powerful human enterolignans that lower oxidative stress.
However, enterolignans in the human body have a half-life of about 5-6 hours. This means that at its peak level in the body, the effective concentration is halved during this time frame. To maintain strong enterolignan levels, it is best to consume Fountain of Life three times a day – in the morning, at noon and in the evening. However, if that is not possible, taking Fountain of Life once each day at the same time will help maintain our enterolignan levels, ensuring that our body has the right nutrient level to lower oxidative stress in our body.
Oxidative Stress and Chronic Inflammation
Oxidative stress can trigger an inflammatory response in the body. Acute inflammation is a natural and beneficial immune system response to injury or infection and is part of the healing process. Continuous exposure to free radicals can lead to chronic inflammation, which can produce more free radicals.
Chronic inflammation is the root cause for many health issues. This can cause an increase in serum LDL’s while lowering HDL’s. This leads to the buildup of plaque and eventually cardiovascular disease. It also is responsible for insulin resistance which increases the risk factors in the development of type 2 diabetes. For others, chronic inflammation is a primary risk factor for cancer. Beyond the discomfort of chronic inflammation, this state is the gateway to many health issues. Reducing chronic inflammation reduces the risk factors.
What are Lignans?
Lignans are powerful antioxidants. Lignans can reduce free radicals created by pollution that can lead to potential health issues. Food sourced lignans are converted by the intestinal flora to enterodiol or enterolactone. It reduces the impact of oxidation, thus slowing the signs of aging. For years, the highest lignan food source was flaxseed. However. its dominant lignan, secoisolariciresinol diglucoside must be cleaved before it can be absorbed in the small intestine. If cleaving occurs and is absorbed, it is metabolized into enterodiol and then to enterolacone. Research have shown that the highest quality of lignans has been discovered in the Norwegian Spruce Tree. Lignans from wood extracts have been proven to show antimicrobial activity and anti-inflammatory activity.
The 7-hydroxymatairesinol lignan, the prominent lignan in Norwegian Spruce Tree, in Fountain of Life is much more efficient than those in flaxseed. It is in an aglycone form, meaning it may be readily absorbed. As well, it converts readily to the powerful human lignan enterolactone. Health professionals recommend an increase in foods containing lignans. A 30 year study showed 30% less cancer, and 30% less heart disease for those following a high lignan diet.
Combat Oxidative Stress with Fountain of Life
Nutrition plays a key role in your health.
Antioxidants in our diet may reduce the harmful effects caused by free radicals. The medical community will prescribe a diet high in fruits, nuts and vegetables to ensure that we have enough antioxidants available in our diet.
For years, lignans from our food have served us to protect our bodies from this potential harm. Unfortunately, our food is now over-processed and has eliminated much of the lignans from our diets.
We need to embrace the challenges and augment our lignan-poor food sources with a supplement that boosts their ability to protect us from free radicals that can cause so many potential issues in our well-being.
Fountain of Life (FOL) accesses the power of the spectrum of lignans from the Norwegian Spruce Tree. Its incredible protective properties serve to supplement our nutrient-deficient, refined foods.
The Benefits of Dietary Lignans
The antioxidant properties found in lignans help to neutralize the destructive impacts that free radicals can cause on the body.
Protect Heart Health
Eating nutrient-rich fruits and vegetables can lower heart disease risk by up to 65%. Numerous studies confirm the importance of phytonutrients for cardiovascular health.
Reduce Breast Cancer Risk
A 7-year French study with 58,049 women found that high plant lignan intake reduced breast cancer risk in a Western population with low soy consumption.
Impact Menopauseal Symptoms
HMRlignan is rapidly absorbed and metabolized in healthy postmenopausal women, significantly reducing hot flash frequency. Doses up to 72 mg/day for 8 weeks were safe and well-tolerated.
Alleviate Symptoms of Autism
Dietary interventions, including vitamins B6, B12, D, omega-3 fatty acids, and plant-based lignans, may alleviate ASD symptoms, targeting gastrointestinal issues and behavioral challenges.
Protect Your DNA
Free radicals can damage DNA, causing cancerous tumors. Lab studies show lignans, a type of phytochemical, can inhibit tumor development by scavenging and neutralizing free radicals.
Protect Prostate Health
Lignans in the diet can alleviate symptoms of benign prostate growth in aging men, easing discomfort and urinary voiding difficulties associated with lower urinary tract issues.
Improve Hair Health
7-hydroxymatairesinol (7-HMR) inhibits 5-alpha reductase, reducing conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and potentially preventing hair loss by preventing follicle shrinkage.
Control Diabetes Complications
Functional foods, like lignans found in Fountain of Life, show promise in alleviating diabetes symptoms and relieving diabetic neuropathy pain. Specifically, 7-hydroxymatairesinol may help improve diabetes symptoms.
Balances Gut-Brain Axis
The gut-brain axis connects our enteric and central nervous systems, influencing mood, behavior, and overall health. Dietary modulation impacts neuronal, immune, and metabolic pathways, with mood swings, irritability, and fatigue linked to nutrition.
What is the list of lignans found in Fountain of Life
Fountain of Life is the complete lignan source, including 7 essential lignans, predominantly 7-HMR, providing the strength and variety unmatched by any product, fruit or vegetable on the market: 7-hydroxymatairesinol (HMR), 7-hydroxymatairesinol (HMR2), alpha conidendrin, lariciresinol, liovil, secoisolariciresinol, and matairesinol.
Why is the Norwegian Spruce an abundant source of lignans?
The Norwegian Spruce growing in Northern Finland has survived in the harshest of environments. It is virtually disease free. The benefit is that this has the highest source of lignans in nature.
No. For men, lignans prevent the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone. This occurs as dietary lignans attenuate the formation of 5-alpha reductase, an enzyme that causes the formation of DHT. DHT can lead to benign prostate growth in men and hair loss in both men and women.
Do Lignans have any impact on people suffering from Diabetes?
In 2018, in the British Journal of Nutrition, a study by Biasiotto was published on the benefits on dietary lignans, specifically the 7-hydroxymatairesinol lignan. This lignan lowered the production of insulin in the body as it lowered insulin resistance. Type II diabetics benefit from the lowering of chronic inflammation that causes insulin resistance by the addition of lignans in the diet.
No. Fountain of Life is an augmented supply of lignans no longer in the diet. The average person takes in 5 mg per day while it is recommended to have 50 to 100 mg per day. Fountain of Life provides an excellent source of dietary lignans that protects us from free radical activity that leads to oxidative stress and chronic inflammation.
Fountain of Life is formulated using the excipient (trimethylene glycol) that is Halal and Kosher certified. While the finished product itself is not separately certified, the excipient component used in the formulation meets Halal and Kosher standards.
The Science
Antioxidants in Cancer Prevention
What Is The Real Value Of An Antioxidant Rich Diet?
Free radicals can damage the DNA in healthy cells, which may alter their operating instructions and cause them to reproduce uncontrollably and form cancerous tumors. People who eat lots of fruits and vegetables have a low risk for some types of cancer. Lab studies show that phytochemicals stifle the growth of tumors in various ways, including by scavenging and demobilizing free radicals.
A 30-year retrospective study
A 30-year retrospective study showed30% less cancer, and 30% less heart disease, for those societies following a high lignan diet. Unfortunately, the average person ingests about 1mg of lignans daily while the recommended levels are 50-100 times that amount.

The Lignans in Fountain of Life vs Flaxseed
Fountain of Life contains the lignans from the Norwegian Spruce tree. It metabolizes in the same manner as flax and sesame seed, as they convert to enterolactone in the body so that they may be utilized. The body must cleave the chemical bonds in the lignan found in flaxseed, secoisolariciresinol diglucoside (SDG), so it can be absorbed. Once absorbed in the small intestine, it is converted to enterodiol, a human lignan. Enterodiol eventually becomes enterolactone, the most potent form of an enterolignan.
Flaxseed is not an efficient lignan source, as uncleaved flaxseed is discarded and any that is absorbed needs further conversion. The primary lignan in Fountain of Life is 7-HMR that converts directly to enterlactone, being absorbed readily.
The Power of Enterolactone
Enterolactone
The Power of Enterolactone
Enterolactone, a significant antioxidant produced within the intestinal tract through the transformation of 7-hydroxymatairesinol (7-HMR), boasting valuable anticancer and anti-metastatic attributes. 7-HMR is the primary lignan in Fountain of Life, this compound plays a crucial role in neutralizing detrimental free radicals and regulating estrogen metabolism. Its association with a decreased risk of cardiovascular ailments and potential protective effects against specific cancers underscore its importance. Additionally, it might contribute to improved bone density and positively influence gut microbiota, highlighting its multifaceted potential in promoting overall health.
The lignans in Fountain of Life quickly converted in the plasma of our blood or through the intestinal flora to form enterolactone. This conversion is important as this allows our body to utilize Fountain of Life to neutralize the overwhelming free radicals that can open the door to many health challenges.

The Sustainability of Fountain of Life
No trees have been harmed in the making of Fountain of Life. The pulp and paper industry only uses some parts of the Norwegian Spruce. They remove the dark stem knotwood during the preparation phase. This material is collected and shipped to our extraction facility, where the extract is created through a patented production process.
The Norwegian Spruce Tree extract in Fountain of Life is considered an up-cycled ingredient since it’s a byproduct of the timber industry.
According to the Finnish newsroom Metsateollisuus, “About 80% of domestic wood utilized by the forest industry comes from private forest owners. The average size of the forest holding is 30 hectares and the number of forest owners is approximately 620,000.”
They go on to state “Sustainable forest management in Finland concentrates on finding a balance between economic, social and environmental aspects. These are also the basic pillars for the two forest certification schemes PEFC and FSC that are actively used in Finland.”
Sustainably managed forests enable diverse ecosystem services regionally and nationally, and this also includes climate benefits. Wood is Finland’s most important source of renewable energy.
